ADA Tree's Mission

"Our climate is under threat. By using the revenue received for running the pool, ADA Trees helps you to fight the climate emergency by planting trees, growing a forest and reducing carbon emissions."

Whilst thinking about starting a stake pool, I decided that one of the most important things should be that the stake pool must do something beneficial outside of the Cardano ecosystem.

Although Cardano is one of the most ecologically friendly blockchains, I'm sure we can do better, so I've made it the mission of Bamboo to donate at least 20% of its profits to https://ecologi.com.

How many trees can we plant?

Ecologi plants trees and grows forests to help individuals and businesses become climate positive, and provides two different methods for planting trees: a monthly subscription and one-off donations.

In order for ADA Trees to have a presence at https://ecologi.com/ada-trees I am personally paying the monthly donation - planted 52 trees and 0.89T of carbon reduction:

I will continue to personally cover the cost of the monthly subscription (and the pool running costs), but when the stake pool starts creating blocks, ADA Trees will make one-off donation to plant trees, each time a block is created;

About me

I have spent the last 20 years in various different IT roles; starting as a workshop engineer and finally settling into being a software engineer.

For a long time now I've been looking for a project to run which is outside of my normal day-to-day software engineering role, and when I read about the Cardano platform, I feel like I've something to spend my time on.

I have been a proponent of open source software for a very long time, and through Cardano's governance systems [https://cardano.org/governance], Cardano follows my ideals of open source.

Technical

The pool is hosted on servers in Microsoft's Azure cloud, with a relay in the UK and the core node in the UK.

I have 5 years' experience in deploying different types of infrastructure to the Azure cloud, and many more years of Linux server admin, so I am confident that everything is as secure, redundant, and safe as possible.

About Cardano and ADA

Cardano is blockchain platform which uses a decentralised network of nodes (stake pools) to validate the Cardano blockchain.

Ada is the digital currency which represents a stake in the Cardano network. Ada owners can help the Cardano network, and earn rewards by either running their own stake pool, or by delegating their stake to a stake pool run by another person.
